Welcome to One Thing Better. Each week, the editor in chief of Entrepreneur magazine (that’s me) shares one way to achieve a breakthrough at work — and build a career or company you love.
This week, One Thing Better is coming in two parts.
Today, I’ll tell you about something new I built for you.
Tomorrow, I’ll give you a lesson from it (in regular OTB style).
Here it is:
I’m teaching my personal branding strategy — because it changed my life, and it can change yours too.
Here’s how it all started for me:
About a decade ago, I was fired.
I was working at a magazine, and they decided I wasn’t the right fit anymore. So I was gone, and a new editor was hired to replace me.
That’s when something clicked for me: I am interchangeable.
We like to think of ourselves as unique — but the truth is, our talents (or products) alone do not make us fully unique. We are always just one option among many.
So I started to think: What is the opposite of being interchangeable?
The answer is being singular
Being singular means becoming the specific, unique person that people want and trust.
Instead of saying: “I need someone to do this…”
I want people to say: “I need Jason Feifer to do this…”
Then I found a way to make it happen: It was personal branding.
People connect with people, not with brands. And people want to hire authorities, not just anyone.
This isn’t an ego thing, and it’s not an “influencer” thing. Personal branding makes you singular, which makes you more valuable and desirable, no matter what you do.
I’ve seen it first-hand. I leaned heavily into LinkedIn, and spent years experimenting and studying the platform. Now I have 230,000+ followers, and my posts got 256 million impressions in the past year. Here are my most recent stats:

LinkedIn is now a primary driver of business for me. It’s also my #1 source for new newsletter subscribers. (Perhaps you first found me there?)
People always ask me for advice on this. Companies hire me to run workshops, helping their team build their own personal brands (which is good for the company)!
So I decided: It’s time to make a course, sharing all I know.
I’m debuting it here — and to thank you for your support, please use code OTB40 for 40% off.
What’s in the course
I’ve packed it full of actionable insights, real-world examples, and practical exercises. This isn’t theory. It’s the exact concepts, strategies, and tactics that I’ve proven work and use myself.
Here’s what you’ll learn:
- Defining Your Unique Brand: Understand the key differences between a professional brand and a personal brand, and craft a unique identity that resonates with your audience.
- Establish Your Online Character: Create a consistent, memorable presence by distilling your personality into a “5% Character” that your audience will recognize and trust. (More on that tomorrow!)
- Generate Engaging Content: Learn how to find content ideas that captivate and connect.
- Master the Art of LinkedIn Posts: Discover the secrets to writing posts with great hooks, targeted messaging, and clear takeaways that drive engagement.
It doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced leader or ambitious young professional. It doesn’t matter if you’re a consultant, coach, startup founder, c-suite leader, or freelancer. The concepts and techniques that I teach in this course are universal.
Grab the course today, and use OTB40 to get 40% off.
And stay tuned for tomorrow!
Tomorrow, I’ll send an email in my regular One Thing Better format — teaching you one of the most powerful concepts from the course.
As you know, OTB is never marketing-oriented. My goal is to serve you, not to sell to you. But after spending five months making this course, I genuinely believe in its value and ability to help you — so although I hate sending marketing emails, I’m swallowing my reservations and hitting send.
Because when you have something useful, isn’t it your obligation to tell people about it? I teach that too. 😀
See you tomorrow.
